CHINA ORIENT EXPRESS
THE SILK ROAD OF CHINA
The "China Orient Express" is an exclusively chartered vintage train through the Silk Road of China. In the seventies part of the train was destroyed and the surviving coaches were refurbished and turned into a VIP train for the Chinese hierarchy. Since than, it has served China,s elite and sits in the railway hanger in Beijing along with other VIP coaches awaiting its turn for a ride whenever possible.Passengers use the train as their hotel . Also, the train is beautiful with its mahogany and red lacquered walls, a two-piece washroom (hand basin and shower spout) shared by two compartments. The train has two European toilets at each end of the coach with wooden toilet seats and carpeted floor. Please note that the train no longer runs on steam locomotive; it now runs on diesel. Since 1990, it enjoys a sitting lounge, with a piano; it has immaculate services, two spotless dining rooms and a very functional, stainless steel kitchen. In addition, it is air-conditioned throughout. Please note there is not hot water on-board but because of the time of the year we are travelling, the weather is hot and a cool shower is refreshing.
