Day 1
Depart Cape Town Station. Arrive in the Victorian village of Maitjiesfontein and take a stroll around its quaint streets before dinner and overnight on the train.

Day 2
Arrive in the diamond boomtown of Kimberley and lunch at the historic Kimberley Club. After lunch enjoy a visit to the Big Hole and a memorable ride on the Diamond Museum's historic tram, followed by dinner and overnight on the train.

Day 3
Arrive in Pretoria and work up an appetite for lunch at the Victoria Hotel by visiting some well-known Pretoria landmarks. Spend the afternoon touring Pretoria before departing the city.

Day 4
Arrive in Hoedspruit for a full board and overnight stay at the 5-star Ngala or Kapama Game Lodge.

Day 5
Partake in an afternoon visit to a unique facility dedicated to endangered species - the Hoedspruit Wild Dog and Cheetah Project - before departing Hoedspruit.

Day 6
Arrive in Beit Bridge for border formalities before embarking on a journey to Bulawayo.

Day 7
Arrive at Victoria Falls and transfer to the posh Victoria Falls Hotel. Sit back and enjoy the fabulous scenery of the Zambezi River on a Sunset Cruise before an entertaining African Spectacular Show. Return to hotel for dinner and lodging.

Day 8
Day of Leisure! How about a tour of the spectacular Victoria Falls or a game of golf? For those with an adventurous spirit there's whitewater rafting, bungi jumping, a helicopter flight or an elephant safari! After the day of adventure depart Victoria Falls and travel to Livingston for border formalities.

Day 9
Take in the scenery of Zambia's capital city - Lusaka - while enjoying a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner on board the Pride of Africa.

Day 10
Arrive in Kanona and brunch at Kundilila Falls. Depart Kanona and dine on board. While you relive the day's memories in dreams, the train meanders through Ppika and Kasama overnight.

Day 11
Arrive Nakonde/Tunduma for Zambian/Tanzanian border control, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served on board.

Day 12
Arrive Makambako. Descend a spectacular pass into Mlimba, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served on board.

Day 13
Arrive Kiduna and continue journey through Mzenga en route to Dar Es Salaam. Breakfast on board before arriving in Tazara Station in Dar Es Salaam.

PRETORIA TO SWAKOPMUND

In May 1998, Rovos Rail re-opened the passenger rail link between Pretoria and Namibia. This seven-day journey takes passengers 3400-kilometres from the savannahs of the Highveld to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Highlights include Kimberley and the Big Hole; the spectacular Fish River Canyon; the stark beauty of the Kalahari and Namib deserts; Namibia's vibrant capital city of Windhoek and an overnight stay at a game lodge bordering Etosha Pan. Journey's end is at Swakopmund, a perfectly preserved 19th-century German Hansa town. Reverse itinerary is available starting in Pretoria to Swakopmund.

Day 1
Depart the Capital Park Station in Pretoria and travel through the savannahs of the Highveld en route to Kimberley.

Day 2
Arrive in Africa's diamond boomtown of Kimberley and enjoy a tour of the city and the Big Hole before departing.

Day 3
Arrive in Holoog Siding and visit the city's spectacular Fish River Canyon. Lunch at the Canyon Lodge.

Day 4
Arrive in Namibia's capital city of Windhoek. Set out on a visit of the infamous Station Museum and a tour of Windhoek. Lunch at the Okapuka Ranch and enjoy a memorable afternoon game drive and lion feeding before departing Okapuka.

Day 5
Arrive in Tsumeb and transfer to the Mokuti Lodge for lunch. Venture out on an exciting game drive before calling it a night at Mokuti Lodge.

Day 6
Witness a spectacular African sunrise on an early morning game drive in Etosha Pan. Depart Tsumeb.

Day 7
Arrive at the train's final destination - the 19th-century German Hansa town of Swakopmund.

PRETORIA TO VICTORIA FALLS

Day 1
Depart Rovos Rail's station in Capital Park, Pretoria. Begin your journey with lunch in the train's luxurious Dining Car en route to Witbank. Marvel at breathtaking scenery as the train descends down the magnificent Drakensberg Escarpment into Nelspruit.

Day 2
Arrive in Hoedspruit and disembark the train for the ultimate game park excursion. Depart Hoedspruit and enjoy yet more spectacular scenery as the train slowly climbs the escarpment through Tzaneen and Duiwelskloof.

Day 3
Arrive in Pietersburg and transfer to the airport for a two-hour flight to Victoria Falls. Your spectacular Rovos Rail journey ends at the charismatic Victoria Falls Hotel.

PRETORIA TO DURBAN

Rovos Rail's luxury steam train takes you on an exclusive three-day safari through Kruger National Park and Swaziland to Durban. From Capital Park, Pretoria, the Pride of Africa travels towards Witbank, then down the spectacular escarpment to an African bushveld paradise. Awake in Malelane, Mpumalanga, for an early morning game drive in the world-famous Kruger Park. Relax aboard the train as it travels towards the Kingdom of Swaziland. Enjoy an afternoon game drive through the pristine Mkhaya Game Reserve, followed by a memorable candlelit bush dinner in a riverine setting. Day 1
Depart Rovos Rail's private station in Capital Park, Pretoria and slowly descend the magnificent Drakensberg escarpment en route to Waterval Onder.

Day 2
Begin your day with an exciting game drive in an open vehicle through Kruger Park. Dine on a scrumptious brunch served up in the train's opulent Dining Car as you view the spectacular scenery traveling through Komatipoort en route to the Swaziland border. Arrive at the Mkhaya reserve for an afternoon game drive and bush dinner under the stars. Drift off as the train winds its way through the beautiful rolling hills en route to Hluhluwe in Zululand.

Day 3
Rise and shine early for a memorable drive through the beautiful Hluhluwe Game Reserve where you can view a variety of game in their natural habitat. Depart Hluhluwe and let nature inspire you on your journey to Durban.

CAPE TOWN TO PRETORIA


For many visitors to South Africa, there's no finer way to see the country than on the popular weekly journeys between Pretoria and Cape Town. One of the world's most popular destinations, Cape Town offers a blend of cosmopolitan city life, mountain splendor and scenic wine lands. The twin cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg in Gauteng form South Africa's economic heartland and the ideal departure point for the Lowveld's world-famous game reserves. From the coast, the 1600-kilometre route follows an old pioneering trail carved out of the African bushveld, passing through the wine lands and climbing up to the interior through the Hex River Valley. Highlights of the north and southbound routes include visits to the historic village of Matjiesfontein, a 100-year-old refreshment stop in the arid Karoo, and Kimberley (city of De Beers), the diamond boom-town that's home to the Big Hole, the world's largest man-made excavation. Day 1
Depart Cape Town and mingle with your fellow passengers with some refreshments in the train's Observation Car. After lunch, take a leisurely stroll through the historic village of Matjiesfontein, perhaps grabbing a refreshment at the city's 100-year-old Lord Milner Hotel pub. Slip into some formal attire and enjoy a fabulous dinner in the train's elegant Dining Car as breathtaking scenery en route to Whitehill and Laingsberg passes before you. Why not wrap up the day with a nightcap in the observation car where you can bid farewell to Matjiesfontein with a Cognac? Close your tired eyes - preferably before daybreak - and reminisce the day's adventures while the Pride of Africa quietly winds its way through Beaufort-West, Three Sisters and the village of Victoria West.

Day 2
Enjoy the striking landscape of Perdevleis and Houtkraal en route to Kimberley as you dine on breakfast in the Dining Car. Once in Kimberley, disembark the train and proceed by coach to a tour of the Big Hole, the Mine Museum and a relaxing ride through the diamond boomtown city in a historic tram. Lunch at the Kimberley Club before returning to the Pride of Africa where you will pass through Bloemhof, Leeudoringstad en route to Klerksdorp. By the time the sun has risen above the African horizon, the train will have wound its way through Warrenton, Kingswood and Leeubos.

Day 3
After a short stop in Johannesburg, the Pride of Africa commences its journey to Rovos Rail's station in Pretoria. For those booked on a Johannesburg and Pretoria City Tour, it is time to disembark.

CAPE TOWN TO GEORGE

The 620-kilometre rail journey between Cape Town and George, and then onto Knysna, a Coastal jewel in the heart of the famous Garden Route, is rated as one of the most beautiful in the world. From the Mother City, the Pride of Africa travels through the mountains before passing alongside vineyards, rolling wheat fields and racehorse stud farms in the Robertson Valley. There's a stop to sample the famous wines of the district, then it's onto the coast and the picturesque town of George, where Rovos Rail guests have the option of boarding the museum's Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe for a spectacular 67-kilometre journey along the coast through South Africa's own lake district to Knysna. Day 1
Depart Cape Town. Arrive in Ashton and embark on a fabulous wine tasting excursion at the Zandvliet wine farm. Depart Ashton and arrive at Cooper Siding late in the evening.

AFRICAN COLLAGE

This panoramic 3400-kilometre, eight-day sojourn takes in the Drakensberg Escarpment, Kruger National Park, the Kingdom of Swaziland and Kwazulu Natal's Hluhluwe Game Reserve. From Durban, the Pride of Africa turns westwards towards Bloemfontein and onto the picturesque town of Graaff-Reinet. After excursions in Oudtshoorn, George, and Knysna, the train journeys along the spectacular Garden Route with a stop in the wine lands before ending the Collage in Cape Town.

Day 1
Depart Rovos Rail's private station in Capital Park, Pretoria

Day 2
Set the alarm early for your arrival in Madelane where you'll venture out for a morning game drive in Kruger Park. Return to the train for brunch as you venture through Komatipoor to the Swaziland border. Arrive at the Mkyaha Game Reserve for an afternoon game drive followed by a romantic candlelit bush dinner. While you lay slumbering the Pride of Africa gently winds its way towards Hluhluwe in Zululand .

Day 3
Early wake up call for a game drive in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. After the game drive the Pride of Africa departs and journeys through lush rolling hills to Durban where you are free to indulge in an evening on the town.

Day 4
Depart Durban and enjoy the Pride of Africa's breathtaking ascent of the majestic escarpment through Pietermaritzburg en route to Bloemfontein.

Day 5
Depart the Freestate capital of Bloemfontein en route to the historic village of Graaff-Reinet. Enjoy a late afternoon stroll through the 16th-century village.

Day 6
Arrive Oudtshoom for a visit to the Highgate Ostrich farm. Board the Pride of Africa for yet more spectacular scenery as the train descends into the town of George. Time for leisure in the afternoon.

This special journey commences in Pretoria and travels east towards the spectacular Drakensberg escarpment en route to Nelspruit. Try a few holes at the White River Country Club or visit the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and gold mining village of Pilgrim's Rest. Tee-off at the Royal Swazi Golf Club near Manzini, in Swaziland while non-golfers visit the Ezulwini Craft Market and the Mlilwane Game Reserve. Then it's on to Zululand for game viewing in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve and the St. Lucia Estuary.

Play one of South Africa's finest courses, the Durban Country Club, while non-golfers enjoy a city tour of Durban followed by a visit to The Valley of a Thousand Hills. In the foothills of the imposing Drakensberg Mountains, 18-holes await you at the Champagne Sports Resort, with a guided tour of the Battlefields, a further highlight for non-golfers.
Relax as the train winds its way north towards the magnificent resort of Sun City in the Pilanesberg Mountains, where a full day awaits you at the world-class Gary Player Country Club.
