Hotel Night Credit
If you choose not to partake in the hotel night (Day 1), a $100 per person
credit will be applied.
Early Booking Incentive
The Early Booking Incentive is available by booking your tour at least
six (6) months prior to the
departure date. The discount is capacity controlled, subject to availability
and cannot be combined with other American Orient Express offers (inquire
for further details).
Final Payment
Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. American Orient Express
accepts all major credit cards.
Reservations
To reserve your place on an American Orient Express program, please contact
your travel agent or call toll-free (800)320-4206. A deposit of $500 per
person is required within 7 days of making your reservation. Please make
check payable to American Orient Express and indicate your trip name,
departure date and reservation number. American Orient Express also accepts
all major credit cards.
Cancellation & Refunds
Deposits are refundable, less a $250 per person cancellation fee, until
60 days prior to departure. Less than 60 days prior to departure, no refunds
can be made. American Orient Express highly recommends trip insurance
coverage for its passengers.
Insurance
American Orient Express offers optional trip insurance coverage. The insurance
covers cancellation, emergency medical evacuation, accident and optional
sickness coverage. Travel losses caused by such a condition (even if suffered
by your immediate family member or travel companion) can be insured provided
you pay in full for such insurances within 14 days after American Orient
Express has received your deposit. A description of insurance costs and
coverage will be sent in your preliminary document package.
Eligibility
We consider these trips mildly physical programs, involving some walking
and stair climbing. Life on the train is relaxed and casual. All members
of the trip are expected to be in good health and enjoy traveling as part
of a group. Please advise us of any special medical or dietary conditions.
ADA Policy
The American Orient Express was refurbished before the American Disabilities
Act; and therefore, it does not comply with ADA standards. Certain safety
regulations affecting the design of the train may cause difficulty for
persons with limited mobility. The carriages cannot accommodate wheelchairs
or most walkers. The hallways in the sleeping carriages are 18 inches
wide, and doorways leading into the cabins are 23 inches wide.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is limited to vestibule areas only. Smoking is not permitted in
the train's sitting, dining or sleeping carriages.
Children's Fares
We welcome children, ages 8 and older, on board the train. Children ages
8-12, will receive a 50% discount off the published fares, when sharing
a cabin with two (2) full fare adults. A 25% discount off the published
fare, will be given to children 8-12 if sharing a cabin with one (1) full
fare adult.
Passenger Safety Information
Passenger safety on the American Orient Express is always our first and
foremost concern. Our
carriages meet or exceed the standards established by the transportation
industry. Each carriage is inspected daily and undergoes routine maintenance
scheduled throughout the season by our on board mechanics. Each staff
member on the train has been CPR certified and undergoes rigorous training
in rail safety procedures.

Luggage Policy
The passenger expressly assumes all risk of loss with respect to the passenger's
baggage and personnel belongings, while such are in the passenger's control.
Currency
Fares are quoted and payable in U.S. dollars.
Passage Agreement
By accepting the passage agreement, sent in trip documents, boarding the
train and participating in tour activities, (motorcoach, transfers, lodging,
dining, entertainment, or any other activity or service included with
this trip) all passengers agree to accept and be bound by all of its terms
and conditions. Your acceptance or use of the ticket voucher, payment
of trip deposit, and payment of full fare constitutes agreement to these
Passage Agreement terms and conditions.

Meals that are included in the tour packages are noted at the end of each
day's itinerary. (B =

Special Diets
Special diets should be specified either at the time of booking or on
the Personal and Health
Information Forms included in your Preliminary Document Package in order
that we may do all
possible to accommodate your request.
Pets
No pets or animals are permitted on board the train.
Air Supplement Program
American Orient Express will gladly make air arrangements for you, providing
inclusive travel packages at attractive rates. Round-trip travel is available
from a variety of cities in the 48 contiguous United States. The chart
(page 37) provides sample fares from selected gateways. Call your travel
agent or American Orient Express for more information. The availability
of the Air Supplement Program may be limited from each city. American
Orient Express reserves the right to withdraw any city without prior notice.
Air prices are based on airfares in effect at time of printing and are
subject to change. American Orient Express reserves the right to schedule
air itineraries in accordance with tour schedule and flight availability.
Air date deviations are subject to additional air changes. Seat assignments
and special requests such as meals and wheelchairs are the passenger's
responsibility and must be made directly with air carrier(s). Airline
tickets issued by American Orient Express have restrictions and cannot
be exchanged for an alternate carrier or routing. Cancellation or change
fees may be assessed by an airline for any changes made to an itinerary;
any changes incurred by voluntary itinerary changes are the responsibility
of the passenger. American Orient Express is not liable for any penalties,
costs or losses incurred to persons holding air tickets not issued by
its air department in the event of changes in airline or tour schedules,
airline irregularities, space availability or acts of God.
Responsibility
American Orient Express and its affiliates act only as an agent for the
passenger with respect to
transportation and hotels and exercises every care possible. However,
we can assume no liability for injury, damage, delay, loss, accident or
irregularity in connection with the services of any airplane, ship, motorcoach,
train or other conveyance used in carrying out the arrangements of the
tour. We cannot accept responsibility for losses or additional expenses
due to delay or changes in air or other services, sickness, weather, strike,
war, quarantine, acts of God, or other causes beyond our control. All
such losses or expenses will have to be borne by the passenger, as tour
rates provide for arrangements only for the time stated. We reserve the
right to make alterations to this published itinerary. American Orient
Express reserves the right to cancel the tour prior to departure, in which
case the entire payment will be refunded without further obligation on
our part. The right is also reserved to decline or accept or to retain
any person as a member of the tour. No refund will be made for the unused
portion of any tour. The price of the program is based on tariffs and
rates in effect in April 2001 and is subject to change. Any tariff, exchange
rate or fuel surcharge will be passed on to the participants. Baggage
is carried at the owner's risk entirely. It is understood that the air
ticket, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the passenger
and the airline concerned. The airlines concerned are not to be held responsible
for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on
board their plane or conveyance. American Orient Express accepts no liability
for the carrier's cancellation penalty incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable
ticket connected with the tour.
Photography
American Orient Express reserves the right to take photographs during
the operation of any tour and while on the train. These photographs may
be used in the future by the American Orient Express for the use of promotional
materials. By booking a reservation with the American Orient Express,
passengers agree to allow their image to appear in such photographs. Passengers
who prefer that their image not be used are asked to notify the tour leader
at the commencement of their tour, once on the train. Home Page: "David

National Tour Association (NTA)
The NTA Consumer Protection Plan (CPP) becomes applicable in the event
that a bankruptcy petition is filed by or against a NTA Tour Operator
Member. The CPP then applies to qualifying Consumer deposits or prepayments
which were made to the bankrupt NTA Tour Operator Member for qualifying
deposit or prepayment for qualifying Packaged Travel which was placed
by a travel agent on behalf of that Consumer with a bankrupt NTA Tour
Operator Member. The CPP's liability for qualifying Consumer's losses
is limited to $25,000 per bankrupt NTA Tour Operator Member with a maximum
limit for all losses being the total assets of the CPP from time to time.
The acceptance of Consumer's claims by the CPP is strictly governed by
the terms and conditions of the CPP and nothing contained herein operates
as a waiver or limitation of any right or defense available pursuant to
